Episode 8: What I Want to Do Is...
Aired: February 24, 2013The chairwoman clarifies the school will be closed down if their upcoming open day is received negatively. As Eli tries to think of ways to attract potential students besides μ's, Umi suggests to the group that they should get Eli to teach them how to dance. Eli eventually agrees to help them out and starts putting them through some intense training, surprised to find them willing to put through with it despite the roughness of it all. As Eli becomes conflicted by what she should do, Nozomi tells her that should do what she wants to do instead of what people expect her to do. Eli breaks down and says she wants to join μ's but doesn't feel she is able to do so. Nozomi informs the others, who formally invite her to join μ's as one of their members. Eli finally becomes honest with herself and joins the group alongside Nozomi, who reveals she was the one who came up with the group's name. The complete group performs at the open day to a pleased crowd.

Otonokizaka High School stands on the border of three cities: Akihabara—a pop culture mecca that's evolving by the minute; Kanda—a conservative, cultured city where history and tradition reign supreme; and Jinbo—a quiet area reserved for a more mature, sophisticated population. Amidst this culture clash, the school now faces closure due to the enrollment of fewer and fewer students.
With the school planning to close within three years, nine female students come together with one thing in mind—form a pop idol group to revive the school's popularity and keep it from shutting down. "In order to protect our beloved school, there's only one thing we can do... become pop stars!"
Their goal is simple: Become an overnight sensation and use their nationwide media exposure to promote their school and bring in a wave of new students to the ailing area. A simple but solid plan, they figure. Naturally, they're nervous and wonder if this plan can really succeed, but for better or worse their new journey has begun...
